The same basic equipment is needed for land kiting. First and foremost being the kite. Foil kites are typically used for land kiting, compared to leading edge inflatable (LEI) kites used in kitesurfing. Different sized kites are used depending on how strong the wind is, with smaller kites being used in stronger winds. Land boards are made of wood or composite materials which can be made lighter. Beginners should use longer and wider boards which offer more stability, and narrower smaller boards should be used by more advanced kite boarders trying to pull of tricks. Suspensions can also be added and adjusted to the rider’s liking. Harnesses are used in land kiting in order to take force off of the rider’s arms so they can ride longer. Harnesses are usually equipped with a safety system where the rider can release the kite in case of an emergency. Control bars are also used to control the kite in the same way they’re used for kitesurfing. You will find all of the equipment and gear you need to get set up for your next land kiting session right here at Kite-Line.
