    Progression Beginner Kite Landboarding Instruction

Give it a go on Land!!!

Progression Kite Landboarding Beginner is primarily aimed at people with some existing kite flying experience, whether that's as a kitesurfer, power kiter or existing novice kite landboarder. We aim to give you all the background on the sport, safety, locations and conditions before getting up and riding on the board and slowing down and stopping. Then we'll refine your stance, building your confidence so you can stay upwind consistently. Then its on to sliding, riding toeside and your first turns, before working on carving turns. Finally we take you through every aspect of jumping - from the absolute basics, small jumps, improved technique for those hugh boasting jumps, then a few grabs and finally aerial transitions.

Progression is all about helping you learn safer and quicker but with a deeper understanding of the core techniques, so you can continue to improve and have fun. A Progression DVD is not something to watch from start to finish, but a tool to dip in and out of as you improve, ready to give you the confidence to tackle the next step with ease.

For kitesurfers, the sport of kite landboarding is a great cross over, giving you an opportunity to hone your kite skills, make the most of lightwinds, utilize the same kites you use on the water and during the winter months there is no need for layers of neoprene to say warm just some jeans and a jumper and your good to go. Progression Kite Landboarding Beginner will help you adjust to the differences of riding on wheels and everything that comes along with it, from locations, equipment and safety through to the edging technique which is crucial for any trick or technique.

For Power Kiting enthusiasts, Kite Landboarding is the obvious next step, taking your existing kites and skill, adding a board and giving you the opportunity for speed, distance and jumps. Progression Kite Landboarding Beginner will help you understand how to adapt your kite skills to those required to power a landboard and all the technique so you handle the wheels under your feet.

For Mountain Boarders here's your chance to boost massive airs and you won't need a hill or any ramps! Just get yourself a kite, learn the basic kite skills and Prog KLB Beginner will get you up and riding, helping you change your stance and board technique to adapt to the needs of kite landboarding, and then you'll be ready to .

Progression Instructional Videos use a proven method that breaks down tricks and techniques into easily digestible chunks, helping you to understand no only what to do but why its so important. Our use of split screens, amazing slow motion, graphic overlays and targeted repetition will help to training your brain to remember the key points when you're on your board and in the thick of it.

So whether you fly a foil or inflatable, with handles or a bar, Progression Kite Landboarding Beginner is the only instructional DVD that will get you past the beginner stage and ready to improve in no time at all.

    How to Snowkite

    Volume One, Instructional Snowkiting DVD
    by Morten Gjerstad

Who better to make a great new (and sorely needed) snowkiting instructional video than the maker of the amazing snowkite DVDs like Entropy and Something Stronger - Morten Gjerstad. He is not only an accomplished filmmaker (using all high-definition footage) but also has access to the top riders in the world who are on the cutting edge of what is happening in snowkiting.

This is 2 hours of the most thorough introduction to snowkiting you can imagine. There are chapters on terminology, equipment, location and conditions, kite flying basics, using foil kites, using tube kites (each kite chapter includes information on setup, safety systems, launching and landing, relaunching, and even packing), riding basics (like edging, turning, and going upwind), back country riding, expedition kiting, kite repair, and basic jumping. This is definitely the complete course to becoming a safe and confident snowkiter. When volume 2 is released it will take off from the basic jump and go into all the trick types of jumps and many other specialized advanced snowkiting skills.

    Ozone Method Kite Designer Notes

“What I wanted to do was make a kite that has the speed of a high performance kite, the stability of a beginner kite and handles like a sports car. I have been talking withour paragliding designers and they have shared their new theories which have been helping them produce the highest performing paraglider to date!

    Kite Line Ozone Method Kite

I have reduced the line drag to a minimum with extensive use of diagonals. I worked on the sail tension to maintain a clean leading edge. The section I have chosen produces good speed and it’s very stable. The aspect ratio is 4.2 which means it is not over stretched and keeps it compact with a solid feeling. When we were out testing the Method was only just behind the Yakuza and in strong conditions on small sizes the Method was a real contender. I prefer the Method for my style of riding, I am not a racer but I like to go fast and have good up wind ability without having to concentrate on the kite all the time.

    Kite Line Ozone Method Kite

My top speeds were about the same as the Yakuza but I was getting there slower. Having said that going round a mark fast is easy because on the Method you can just flick the kite around without needing to be precise on the controls. The other great aspect is that just about anyone with four line handle experience can fly this kite, it’s just easy and feels smooth and solid.  It’s not designed to be a race winner but you would have fun trying and you would not be far off the pace! Another great thing is that the Method flies exceptionally well with the Ozone Turbo bar, making it an excellent option for a performance landboarding kite, or for riders who prefer to use a bar.”

    Flysurfer Peak2

    Innovations

The Flysurfer Kiteboarding R&D team always tries to give kitesports more variety. It was through allowing ourselves the room and opportunity to achieve truly innovative products that we created the first Single-Skin kite. For years, Reinhart Paelinck worked to achieve his dream to build the world’s most versatile kite. Flysurfer had high expectations to improve this unique product even more – and we knew it could be achieved through the combined expert knowledge of our Paragliding and Foil-kite development team. Now, with the PEAK2, Reinhart and Flysurfer have made the next leap forward. The PEAK2 has unmatched low-end, enhanced stability and even more performance – but it still comes in a lighter and smaller package! We’re proud that we were able to further improve this innovative Single-Skin kite product.

    Added value

The PEAK2 is your personal lift to the summit of mountains. No pre-inflation or pumping is needed, so it’s always ready to go for a session. Its unmatched low-end power will guide you to new locations, even in the slightest breeze, and thanks to its effective depower, you’ll be safe and in control, even in stronger winds. The PEAK2 will soon become your go-to kite, the kite you want to use every day, so you won’t miss out on that great session, even as a beginner. Because of its small packing size, and its touring bag/harness, you can literally take the PEAK2 anywhere you want. This combination will make it your ultimate toy either on snow, sand, grass or asphalt. It’s your passport to pure freedom.

    Safety

When it comes to safety, we do not compromise. The PEAK2 now has incredible stability in light breezes or gusty strong winds, so you always remain in charge, no matter what happens. After activating the Infinity 2.0 quick release on the Infinity Light control bar, the front-line safety (FLS) makes the PEAK2 flag-out downwind with no remaining pull. Whether you need to reverse launch, backstall landings, or simply drop the kite at the edge of the wind window for a short break, the PEAK2 does it all, giving you optimum control in every situation.

    Usability

Choose your favourite size from the new PEAK2 line-up – 12.0m, 9.0m, 6.0m or 4.0m. Whichever you opt for, your PEAK2 will be delivered ready-to-fly and complete with your Infinity Light control bar and flying lines. It’s ideally suited for backcountry touring, free-ride snowkiting, kite landboarding or buggying – even unhooked freestyle tricks are possible. When it comes to improving your skills, the PEAK2 also stands out from the crowd, making it the perfect choice for kite schools. And thanks to the easy controllability, it allows for pure fun in your kiting sessions, even for children. Once equipped with our kite and touring bag/harness, all you need to do is hook in the Infinity quick release on your Infinity Light control bar and prepare for launch. Whether you’re on land or snow, only the sky is the limit with the new PEAK2 from Flysurfer!

    Flysurfer Peak2 Features

    Innovative single-skin depower concept

Compared to its ram-air double-skin cousins in our line-up, the PEAK2 has no bottom sail, resulting in a huge reduction in weight and more performance per square metre. And thanks to the efficiency of the PEAK2’s depower system, the power is controllable. When it comes to low-end and wind range, the PEAK2 definitely sets new standards.

    Unmatched low-end

Fun in 3-4 knots? The PEAK2 makes it possible! Even in extreme light winds, the kite provides incredible stability, usability and perfect control.

    Minimalistic pack-size

The super-small pack size of only 52x14x14cm (HxLxW) for the 6.0m ready-to-fly PEAK2 means it fits easily in any travel bag, saving you money on additional sports equipment charges. The minimalistic weight of the 6.0m r.t.f (1.94kg) is a huge advantage in comparison to common closed-cell, open-cell or LEI snow kites – which you’ll definitely appreciate while hiking up mountains!

    Infinity Light control bar

The new lightweight bar for the PEAK2 is robust with a more comfortable grip, a new adjuster (clamcleat) and the proven 2.0 quick-release system with easy untwisting function, so you can enjoy even better comfort while reaching the top of the world.

    No compromise on safety

A proven front-line safety (FLS), the 2.0 quick-release and Infinity Light control bar gives you maximum security about your safety. If activated, the Infinity 2.0 quick release can be reassembled within seconds, so your PEAK2 is ready to fly again.

    Quality of workmanship and durability

With the PEAK2 we remain true to the Flysurfer philosophy to make our products durable. As an additional service we also offer the Flysurfer 12-month free repair warranty.

    Fast and easy handling

No pre-filling or pumping is necessary, simply unpack the PEAK2 and you’re ready to go in the blink of an eye. It really is the most user-friendly kite in kitesports history!

Touring bag with integrated kite harness

This optional extra is a light trekking backpack with an integrated harness in which you can put conventional hydration packs. The straps on the touring bag attach around your waist and thighs, while the chicken loop attaches via special metal loops. This saves the need to bring a standard bulky and heavy harness along. But this bag is not a harness replacement – it’s designed for maximum weight savings for expeditions and freeriding.

    Universal application

Whether it’s on land or snow, with a kite landboard or a buggy, skis or snowboards, for free-ride or teaching purposes, adults or children, beginners or advanced, for urban street kiting or as a travelling companion, the PEAK2 is your ultimate toy for a daily session.

The same basic equipment is needed for land kiting. First and foremost being the kite. Foil kites are typically used for land kiting, compared to leading edge inflatable (LEI) kites used in kitesurfing. Different sized kites are used depending on how strong the wind is, with smaller kites being used in stronger winds. Land boards are made of wood or composite materials which can be made lighter. Beginners should use longer and wider boards which offer more stability, and narrower smaller boards should be used by more advanced kite boarders trying to pull of tricks. Suspensions can also be added and adjusted to the rider’s liking. Harnesses are used in land kiting in order to take force off of the rider’s arms so they can ride longer. Harnesses are usually equipped with a safety system where the rider can release the kite in case of an emergency. Control bars are also used to control the kite in the same way they’re used for kitesurfing. You will find all of the equipment and gear you need to get set up for your next land kiting session right here at Kite-Line.
