Non Vented Kite
As you increase preesure on the trailing edge of the kite (sheeting in) turbulence is created on the trailing edge, ultimately stalling the kite. (Symptoms include back fling or loss of steering control, especially in light winds or while riding unhooked.

Vented Kite
As you increase pressure on the trailing edged of the kite (sheeting in), the vents open on the trailing edge allowing clean aire to flow from the underside of the kite to the top side trailing edge. This reduces turbulence and the chance of back flying or loss of steering while the kite is over sheeted. (Improved light wind performance and steering control when riding unhooked.)
