Concept of Motion takes you there - snow kiting the best spots on Earth, the best waves ridden by the best riders in the world, plus whatever the land or sea has to offer. Concept of Motion isn't about the latest trick, it's about the love of the elements we play in.
From Raging Nation, producers of Fluid Revolution, Zero 3, and 13 Daze Concept contains all the riders you expect, with a heavy emphasis on wave riding.
This video won't be out of date when the next new handlepass trick comes along, i.e. tomorrow. With a solid slate of footage, including handlepass moves, board-offs, wake moves, snow kiting, and in particular, wave riding, this video will last. And a great "road trip" feel makes it an experience every one can relate to. Some highlights include the best Lanes (Maui) waveriding footage we've seen, ultra fun and perfect California wave riding, a unique Oregon Coast trip, and some awesome snowking from Mammoth and Lake Tahoe featuring 16mm film footage of Jason Slezak and Mark Doyle.
Other featured riders are Adam Koch, Robby Naish, Chris Gilbert, Elliott Leboe, Stav Narchos, Ben Meyer, Sky Solbach, Paul Macaj, Martin Vari, Mark Shinn, Peter Trow...okay, okay, you get it, good riders. But what we like the most about this video is the effort the producers put forth on all levels. It has some of the best editing, best graphics, best effects, best flow through the movie of anything we've seen, all without being over the top. Darren and Floyd from Raging Nation really stepped up for this one. It was worth the wait.
Intermediate to advanced instruction by Real Kiteboarding
Welcome to the thrid installment in the 5 DVD instructional series from Real Kiteboarding - the largest lesson center in the world. The first DVD, Zero to Hero took you from rank beginner to the self-sufficient riding level. Then, Evolution improved your on-the-water riding with valuable and hard to find instruction on learning techniques, kite control, stance, and transitions. Now comes the good stuff - jumping.
Everyone loves to jump. It certainly is the main draw that gets people into kiteboarding in the first place. But before Joyride jumps into jumping, you'll reinforce techniques like proper stance, which in turn lead to doing more powerful turns, downlooping the kite, riding faster with more power, riding in control, and riding in a crowd - all things you'll need to know first before hucking your first successful 20 foot air.
In the jumping section you'll learn the mechanics of jumping, progressive edge (kind of teching out with that one but it's key), load and pop jumps, boosting jumps, air transitions, and, of course, troubleshooting. Then it's on to the tricks - boosting grabs, load and pop grabs, hooked in front and back rolls and spins, and an intro to unhooked tricks.
Finally, there's tips for your continued education in kiteboarding. Finally, that is, except for the huge bonus section. There's the Joyride stage Coaches Tips section, the sure to be popular Sleazy-J Grab Tutorial, Gear Tuning, BVI Action, etc., etc., etc.. No effort was spared in bringing on the bonus sections.
You'll notice the filming location for this DVD was moved from Cape Hatteras to the incredible British Virgin Islands. While Hatteras may be the easiest place in the world to learn to kiteboard, guaranteed you'll be booking a flight for points south next winter after keeping your learning curve vertical with Joyride. Keep your learning curve vertical with Joyride, and then Surf, the 4th DVD in the series.
From Fatsand Productions in the UK, makers of the incredibly popular Progression Series instructional DVDs. Low on lifestyle and high on action, the kiteboarding press has widely touted AC as the best action kiteboarding video of the year (2004/5). Aaron Hadlow, Mark Doyle, and Mark Shinn rip up South Africa, Europe, the Red Sea, and the Caribbean. Great footage, editing, and music, plus tons of bonus features. If you're even remotely interested in how hard Aaron Hadlow rips, then get this one.
This is the fifth and final DVD in Real's instructional series, and this one is a bit different. Instead of a full-blown instructional you get the best of both worlds. On side one, if you will, you get all the crazy action that went down during this year's Real Kiteboarding Triple 'S' invitational contest. And I use the word 'contest' loosely. Instead it's more like a week-long excuse to cut loose and take kiteboarding to the next level. SSS stands for Surf, Slicks, and Sliders, with the event taking advantage of a flexible format, riding the sliders, or flat water moves in the slick, or surf sessions (with or without a kite), and even skateboarding as conditions warranted. The motto of the event became, "The world is not ready.", as the riding was off the scale. Some of this year's invitees included Andy Hurdman, Jason Slezak, Andre Phillip, Davey Blair, Greg Norman, Suzi Mai, Moehao Goold, Shannon Best, Sam Bell, Thomas Kogut, Jon Modica, Dimitri Maramenides, Aimee Rabee, and Evan Netsch. Convinced yet?
Well, if you're not, let's talk about the back-side of the DVD. It is an instructional series, after all, and all the riders give their tips on handling a multitude of high-end kiteboarding maneuvers. Subjects include, getting better pop for powered flat-water moves, tips for unhooked riding, handlepasses, kite loops, board-offs, riding blind, and hitting sliders. And after all that there's an nice bonus section of the unbelieveable surf kiting that went down during hurricane Florence in late summer in Cape Hatteras. Quite an exclamation point to the end of the 5 DVD series.
Get ready as the world's top watermen take you step-by-step from basic wave riding techniques to advanced maneuvers. Plus pro-tips, racing techniques, exotic travel, and tons of insane action in between. Bonus features include: Making Of, additional action segments, and tons more. It's what'SUP.
And if you're not ready for the waves yet, don't forget basic to intermediate instruction in Volume One:
Confused about what entry level kiteboarding instructional DVD to get? Look no further, Zero to Hero is here, produced by Real Kiteboarding in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, the largest and most respected lesson center on the planet. This DVD contains the syllabus to their 3-day entry level kite camp, which was rated one of the top five adventure sports camps in the world by Outside Magazine. You will get the most thorough, cutting edge, and effective instruction translated directly from the Zero to Hero camp to this DVD - with sections on safety and responsibility, wind, trainer kites, flying 4-line and 5-line inflatables, launching, landing, tuning, bodydrags, and board starts...everything to take you from a total zero to a safe and self-sufficient rider. and killer bonus sections
The main program teaches you how to kite, but the bonus sections teach you how to be a kiteboarder. There is a Coaches Tips bonus section, where several Real Coaches, both men and women, sit down to answer a multitude of rapid-fire questions that will help you stay safe while learning to kite and literally cut months off your learning curve. Shop Talk is a comprehensive section that will help you make sense of the board, kite, bar, and harness options available out there. Life of a Kiter is great bonus section that teaches you the stuff you need to know after your sessions are over: how to tune your 4 and 5 line bar, how to repair your kite canopy, how to repair a kite bladder, how to do minor board repairs. You won't get this stuff anywhere else. These and other bonus sections all add up to a slam-dunk of a kiteboarding instructional video. Do yourself a favor - learn easily, quicky, and safely the first time, with a Real - Zero to Hero kite camp.
A group of snowkiters load into a tiny RV for a month-long trek across the Rocky Mountains. Filmed on location in Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Colorado, Project Cloud 9 showcases the daily adventures from riders who travel in search of wind, snow, and the ultimate natural terrain. From deep powder near the Kansas border, to roadside jibbing and climbing steep hills in the backcountry, this documentary will inspire anyone who loves kiting in the winter.
Produced by reknown snowkite pioneer Paul Macaj (The Next Chapter, 20/10), Paul has really upped his game this year by shooting in full high definition. In particular, Paul uses the new Panasonic hi-def camera which shoots high frame rates, producing stunning slow motion shots. And if there is one benefit to snowkiting in full-on freezing-ass winter conditions, it's that you are in some of the most beautiful, unspoiled natural places on the planet. That, and the clear mountain air and deep blue skies will make anyone want to take off for a month-long roadtrip through the Rockies.
Cloud 9 offers a huge variety of riding, from super smooth freestyle, to jibbing rails and natrual terrain, to freaky big air with 30 second hang times (I still can't get used to seeing that.). And the riders guide the viewer along with their commentary as they hit spot after spot after spot. It's clear that snowkiters participate in possibly the most unique niche sport in the world.
Ben Wilson is regarded as one of the most influential wave riders in the world. This film is focused on his surf style approach to the waves, not comparing it to surfing, but showing it as an extension by using the kite to whip him in, like a jet ski would a surfer, then killing the power of the kite and using the power of the wave to ride the wave. The entire movie is unstrapped and shot all around the world. Also featuring Mauricio Abre, Moe Goould, Joel Becus, Jeff Tobias, Ryland Blakeny and Josh Mulcoy.
Welcome to the second installment in the 5 DVD instructional series from Real Kiteboarding - the largest lesson center in the world. The first DVD, Zero to Hero took you from rank beginner to the self-sufficient riding level. Now you're on the water and are ready to step up and do some more serious riding. What may be the most unique aspect of Evolution is not the specific moves and techniques within kiteboarding it teaches you, but that it lays out the most effective way you should go about learning these things. Other DVDs probably wont teach you the specifics of circuit training, or doing downwinders, or how to practice your boardriding, but if you really want to learn quickly and correctly, pay attention to these early sections. Plan out your sessions and stick to your plan - that's the way to get to the next level safe and fast.
Evolution goes into detail about riding both ways - regular and switch, the stop, slide, heelside, and toeside transitions, sheeting and safety systems, riding stance, and finally, the holy grail of kiteboarding - riding upwind. And just like Zero to Hero, the bonus sections are extensive. There is an Evolution level Coaches Tips sections where all the Real coaches share their kiteboarding learning and teaching experiences, giving you several different perspectives. There's massive tech sections on both kites and boards, which will be very helpful as you get to the point in your riding where you can understand the differences in equipment. The kite tech section is especially helpful as it lays out the differences and similarities between 4-line, 5-line, and bow or SLE kites. It teaches you how each are rigged, tuned, and relaunched from the water. At the moment, Evolution is the only kiteboarding DVD that addresses and utilized the new bow kites.
Helpful graphics and every conceivable POV angle - trackingcam, helmetcam, overheadcam, barcam - is used to best demonstrate both proper, and improper techniques. Keep your learning curve vertical with Evolution.
