The 2014 Slingshot Rant SUP Board has a flatness under foot allows the board to track straight but the “V” spine allows you to carve when you want to. The stability allows you to ride everything from a point break to a blown out beach break. This 2014 Slingshot Rant SUP Board is stable and responsive. Based on Slingshot’s Future Response Technology the Space Pickle is built with Wood Veneer Sandwich Construction (WVS). This proprietary construction controls the durability and flex of the board and the result is a proven lightweight, impact resistant board.

The 2014 Slingshot Rant SUP Board series is an all new short board style stand up paddleboard designed for surf. The Rant’s aggressive surf shape also maintains unmatched stability in its class making it a great all around board. From small to overhead waves these boards are made to drive down the line and have a snappy feel in the turn. The swallow tail design reduces the surface area providing a great deal of control into and out of turns. The board is flat under foot then progresses to an aggressive “V” spine.

2014 Slingshot Rant SUP Board Features

SWALLOW TAIL

The swallow tail produces a snappy feel with control throughout the turns. The tail will also help the Rant maintain speed even in mushy or small conditions.

ERGONOMIC CARRY HANDLE

Designed with plenty of room to naturally fit the curve of your fingers, the flush mount carry handle makes it easy and comfortable to carry the board.

VENT PLUG

Manually open and close vent plug to allow your board to ‘breath’, equalizing internal and external pressure from
heat and atmospheric pressure changes.

LOWER RAIL PROFILE

The rail profile produces short board style feel from top to bottom with great drive through the bottom turns.

AGGRESSIVE ‘V’ SPINE

Releases the tail, increasing the rocker at the rail line.
This displacement effect allows for smooth carving turns.

FIVE FIN CONFIGURATION

Allows for countless fin configurations. Single fin, twin fin, thruster (3 fin) ,quad and 5 fin set up.

KICKED UP NOSE

The kicked up nose allows for steep late drops without pearling and an easier paddle out through the white water.

Rant 8'4" Review by Toddsup
Just got this board because I love my 9'0" and it was on sale. The 8'4' is by far the best board I have surfed. I struggled standing when waiting for waves in the rough ocean but that is to be expected considering my 230 lbs. on a 140 liter board. A few more sessions will take care of that. But when that board dropped in it came to life. Carving an effortless bottom turn then back up off the top to out running sections of white. Where the 9'0" would feel a little unnerving at speed the 8'4 inspired confidence. I would drop in left and see the wave closing and this board allowed me to slash back right out run the break. Now I cant work I can only think of surfing. (Posted on 8/4/14)
9' Slingshot Rant Review by Toddsup
This board still makes me smile. It handles wind chopped waters well. Spins quickly to catch approaching waves and has quick acceleration dropping in. Bottom turns well now that I changed my side by side stance to more one foot back surf stance for more efficient weight transfer. Easily snakes down the line and carries good speed through weak sections of waves. This board does much better for me in waves over head and smaller. When the waves are bigger and powerful this board is a handful. (I am not experienced in big waves.) It has tucked hard rails that go way up into the nose area. If I were any lighter than my 230# I would choose the Rants little brother. But it does well for getting my large ass on a shorter shape. No issues with durability. Board has a good handle for easy grip and is balanced perfect for carrying. Is way lighter that my Starboard wide point 10 5. I always grab the Rant over the WP when heading for the surf.
